Mr. Douglas Gadow, PE, SE, Senior Principal
Mr. Gadow is founder of Linchpin Structural Engineering, Inc. He is responsible for the structural engineering of new residential homes, remodels and repairs as well as commercial and public structures. He has provided engineering services to local fire and utility districts, the forest service, numerous ski-resorts, as well as countless individual homeowners, builders and developers. He has also provided forensic consulting services to insurance companies, public agencies and attorneys.
Mr. Gadow’s professional interests include zip-lines and treehouses, historic preservation, structural failures, unique and unusual structural issues, and seismic analysis and rehabilitation.
Mr. Gadow has worked on many projects in both the private and public sectors. Additionally, he has worked on numerous projects located in national and state parks. He has experience seeing projects of all sizes through from pre-design to design development including production of full construction drawings and specifications, and construction phase services.
Mr. Allen Forbes, PE, SE, Principal
Mr. Forbes is founder of Forbes Engineering. Mr. Forbes was born and raised in Nevada. Since obtaining his Master’s Degree in l982, he has been employed as a Structural Engineer in Reno, Nevada, and the last eight years as a principal of Forbes Engineering. He has engineered numerous large-scale buildings and has experience in all construction materials. His experience in steel structures includes the new UNR Center for Molecular Medicine, the Joe Crowley Student Union for the University of Nevada, Reno, the Dini-Townsend State Psychiatric Hospital in Reno, Nevada, the Federal Courthouse in Reno, Nevada, the Legislative Building Expansion in Carson City, Nevada, and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Computer Center. Other public works projects include the Galena Fish Hatchery Seismic Upgrade and Camp We-Che-Me remodel, the Sun Valley and Cold Springs Fire Stations, the Department of Information Technology Renovation and Addition to the Computer Center, the Department of Agriculture Headquarters and Lab for the State of Nevada, as well as numerous projects for the NV Air National Guard. He has also designed school projects for Douglas, Lyon, and Washoe County school districts. Large commercial projects include the CDW and Pfizer warehouses, three concrete high rises for Polo Towers in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Belvedere Towers remodel in Reno, Nevada. His experience in timber framed structures includes the Reno Vista Center; a three-story medical office building in Gardnerville, Nevada, and the Community Center, Golf Clubhouse and other buildings for the Arrow Creek development..
Mr. Michael Nicklin, PE, Associate Principal
Mr. Nicklin joined Linchpin Structural Engineering immediately after it was founded. He is primarily responsible for the preparation of construction documents for new residential and commercial buildings and major remodels.
Mr. Nicklin has vast experience providing structural engineering for high-end residential construction in the Lake Tahoe region. He has worked with dozens of architects on these projects and enjoys being part of the collaboration process, starting at schematic design and continuing through to delivery of final construction documents.
Mr. Nicklin is highly experienced in 3D Building Information Modeling utilizing Revit Structure.
Mr. David Hodder, PE, SE, Associate Principal
Mr. Hodder joined Linchpin in the summer of 2014 with thirteen years of structural engineering experience. He was the project manager for the structural engineering of our local Cancer Center at the Truckee Hospital. He has a wealth of experience engineering schools, hospitals, and mid-sized commercial or institutional buildings. His experience includes peer review of structural design documents for code compliance and consulting services to insurance companies.
Mr. Hodder is highly experienced in 3D Building Information Modeling utilizing Revit Structure.
Ms. Erin Broomhall, PE, Associate Principal
Ms. Broomhall joined Linchpin Structural Engineering in the summer 2015 with thirteen years of local structural engineering experience. She has engineered hundreds of local high end residences as well as commercial and public buildings. Her resume also includes various projects from around the country.
She has a complete understanding of local environmental loading, neccesary for engineering in the region, and a complete understanding of the local building practices of the array of contractors with whom she works. She has solid relationships with most of the local architects, understanding their styles and needs.
Ms. Broomhall is highly experienced in 3D Building Information Modeling utilizing Revit Structure.
Ms. Lisa Hartley, Associate Engineer
Lisa specializes in new construction and remodels, and dabbles in treehouse engineering. She is active in the Truckee Meadows ASCE YMF, as well as a host of other activities.
Mr. Jeremy Gavelin, Associate Engineer
Jeremy is our Revit hot-shot. He has engineered a wide variety of projects including providing services on historic buildings.
Mr. Brandon Brooks, Project Engineer
Brandon has provided seismic evaluations for a both unreinforced and lightly reinforced masonry buildings. He has also designed the moment slab for the raising of the Stampede Dam. He likes jeeps and storage containers.
Mr. Jose Montenegro, Project Engineer
Jose provided engineering for the seismic upgrade of Truckee Town Hall. He has engineered bridges as well as new houses and remodels.
Ms. Marlys Zusy, Office Manager
