Linchpin Senior Principal Doug Gadow provided the structural engineering for this modest home on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. The house was designed with double cantilevers supporting high snow loads from the complicated roof framing. To control deflections and creep, the framing was modelled in 3D and steel was used. Since the house in a FEMA flood plain, the structure below the 100 year flood level was required to be flood proof; the foundation was designed to allow floodwaters to pass through.
